Abstract

Ongoing advancements in computing, communication, and mass storage technologies play a pivotal role in redefining how libraries engage with information—shaping the methods of access, retrieval, storage, manipulation, and dissemination for users. The influence of technology extends across various facets of academic library operations, notably impacting collection development strategies, library infrastructure, and collaborative initiatives. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has introduced profound changes and metamorphosis in academic libraries and information services, affecting traditional Library and Information Science (LIS) aspects such as Online Public Access Catalogs (OPAC), user services, reference services, bibliographic services, current awareness services, document delivery, interlibrary loan, and audio-visual services Proficiency in a variety of software and systems may be required for public librarians, including those that may not be directly related to traditional library tasks but are popular among the public Literacy software Advancements in technology are increasingly intertwined with society, with smart appliances and voice-controlled assistants exemplifying how it strives to enhance daily life. As technology transforms the way we organize our lives, it raises the question of whether it will also impact the management of libraries.
